Video Games

In 1958, the first sports video game, Tennis for Two was invented by William Higinbotham. It was played on a oscilloscope, which was a small computer used to look at voltage signals. Each player had a small line that they could tilt and move up and down in order to hit the ball back to their opponent. In the early 80’s sports video games began to make new developments such as different camera angles during the game, sports announcers, and talking players; but the games were still very plain, they lacked detail and featured no real players or teams. The 90’s saw the biggest changes in games, the teams and players were real and made in 3D to reflect their real life selves. Gamers could manage their teams by adding or dropping players, play the full schedule of games of their favorite team, and play as their favorite athletes.

  1. As you can see that how people used to play games before. I think these arcade games will never die because they're fun to play. Like this shows that higinbotham came out 2 decades ago and it might even be played somewhere.

Like this says that when the game came out it was plain and simple and then they kept adding more and more features to make the game even better. Like it said that a person can choose the person they want to be in the game and play as a character. So this shows that when the time goes by, the technology will do things as you what them to do.

  2. I believe video games are one of the greatest art forms that would be impossible with out the development of technology. Games such as Final Fantasy are almost more of an interactive work of art than a game. There is beautiful landscape and scenery, interesting story lines which pull you are your character into the game with well thought out character development. It is more of a novel than it is a game. It can almost paint a picture of the world for you. Video games have just become a new art form.

  3. I must say I am a video game nut. Although I am not that big on sports games I do appreciate them. Sports themselves have changed due to science, technology, and society. The way that sports have influenced society is amazing. Most kids dreams now are to be a big sports star and make millions. I really like how you guys included the part about sports players got paid next to nothing when professional sports first started.

  4. Video games are like art. The specific features that they put it for a video game to look like the real thing. Also although video games have gone a long way from the simple move a line up and down to the pack man game that you move miss packman across machine to eat the dots. Kids always have tons of fun with them and it helps their imagination grow bigger with the games. Some of them now even let you create the story line. Video games a amazing.

  5. I am not a big fan of Video games but my brother play it all the time and i know that it is fun playing them. i tried playing if once or twice and i think it was really relaxing. first they are complicated to play but as soon as you get use to it, it is fun and more easy to play. i asked my dad once about Video games and he told that he never played a Video game when he was young like us, but i still remember that he said that he saw the Video game first in his village/ town about 25 to 30 years ago. i think that we are really that we have Video games for our entertainment. Video games also builds our skills such as vision, hearing and also thinking and which i think is really helpful.now a days they have made Video games so real like when you see them you can feel that you right there because of all the same rules in the games and the mves that they do such as if you are playing a racing game then you can do all the stunts that people do in their real life and i think its really interesting.

  6. I use to be a very big video game fan. When I was younger, I use to play all the time. But I never knew the first sports video game was Tennis. I have played tennis video games and they are fun! I can’t imagine how hard it was to make a tennis game in 1958 when it was even hard to find a television around.
